Community Environmental Centres

Waste Management Home

Community Environmental Centres (CECs) are waste management facilities that provide residents with a convenient location where they can drop off a variety of materials including reusable goods, recyclables and building materials. CECs provide residents with another option in York Region to assist in increasing reuse and recycling efforts.

Through a Joint Waste Management Strategy, York Region and its area municipalities are working together to develop CECs at three York Region locations. The first location in Vaughan - the McCleary Court CEC, and the second location in Richmond Hill - the Elgin Mills CEC - are now open.
