The Town of Richmond Hill has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment to select a preferred option to remediate existing surface flooding during the Regional storm in the Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road Flood Vulnerable Area along German Mills Creek. The Study Area is located approximately between Levendale Road to the south, Elgin Mills Road to the north, Jacey Anne Drive to the west and Newkirk Road to the east as identified in the key plan below. The scope of the Study includes the review and evaluation of flood remediation options to reduce or eliminate the Regional floodplain and the selection of the preferred alternative. This Study will support the Town of Richmond Hill Official Plan policies with respect to development within this Flood Vulnerable Area.
This study was conducted as a ‘Schedule B’ project in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, which is an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act (amended in 2011).
Public input and comment are invited, for incorporation into the planning and design of this project, and will be received until 30 days after the completion of the study.
