Canadian Blood Services needs to collect 25,200 units of blood in the Central Ontario region during August and September to continue meeting patient needs and 155,100 units in the same region over the 2009-10 fiscal year.
Traditionally, the Mayor’s Blood Donor Clinic has been a one day event. However, because blood donations are lower in the summer months due to vacations and a greater demand for it, Mayor Barrow has extended this year’s clinic to four days instead. The extra days will allow more staff and residents to make a donation.
The easiest way to donate is by making an appointment to give. Call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236-6283) for blood donor clinic information, eligibility information or to book an appointment today. For more information on the Mayor’s Blood Donor Clinic please call Risa Healey, Community Liaison Coordinator, at (905) 771-5489. If residents cannot attend the Mayor’s Clinic they are encouraged to visit the permanent clinic at Hillcrest Mall by calling the same number above.
