The Town is a leader in the Character Community Initiative, receiving the Community of Character award in 2006 at York Region’s first annual Character Community Awards. As a Character Community, the Town has successfully promoted the initiative both internally and externally with events, guest speakers, a monthly e-letter, networking nights, Town vehicle decals, and logo printing on all recycling bins to highlight a few.
