The Policy Section provides research and statistics dealing with the growth and development of the Town of Richmond Hill. This work supports the various studies undertaken in support of the new Official Plan and other initiatives.

Socio-Economic Study for the Town of Richmond Hill

Socio-Economic Study for the Town of Richmond Hill - Final Report December 2008 [PDF] Conducted in support of the People Plan project, the Socio-Economic Study for the Town of Richmond Hill was aimed at gaining a more in-depth understanding of the community as well as ideas for possible directions for the Town’s future. The goal of this study was to learn more about the Town’s residents, businesses and growth patterns. It will help inform the Town’s new Strategic and Official Plans.

Socio-Economic Indicators Report - May 2009 [PDF] The purpose of the Socio-Economic Indicators Report is to map key social and economic indicators observed within the Town based on the findings of the Socio-Economic Study using geo-coded 2006 Census data. It will assist in understanding the spatial dispertion of key social and economic indicators within the Town, as well as the research, policy development and implementation process of the Town's new Official Plan.

2006 Census Information on Population and Housing [PDF]
The Town has produced a demographic profile to provide residents and businesses with relevant information about the Richmond Hill community. With data obtained from the Statistics Canada 2001 Census, the 2001 Ward Demographic Profiles highlight key statistics about Richmond Hill at both the town and ward levels. The Policy Section is currently working on creating the 2006 Ward Demographic Profiles.
