The Village Core Façade Assistance Grant Program is designed to provide financial assistance to Yonge Street property owners in Downtown Richmond Hill (Major Mackenzie Drive to Crosby/Benson Avenue) for improvements to the exterior façade of their building. The financial assistance takes the form of matching funds and is offered to eligible property owners and tenants (authorized by the owner) subject to conformity with the Village Core Façade Assistance Program Guidelines [PDF] and Letter of Understanding [PDF].
The maximum amount of funding is 50 per cent of the cost of the façade improvements up to a maximum of $10,000 per property (frontage). A single property is eligible for funding on more than one occasion during the lifetime of the program, provided that the total value of the assistance does not exceed $10,000.
Commercial (non-residential) and mixed-use buildings in the subject area are eligible for a grant. To be considered for the program, a property owner must submit a detailed proposal and at least three estimates for consideration to the Richmond Hill Office of Economic Development.
Effective October 1, 2010, the Village Core Façade Assistance Grant Program will no longer be administered by the Office of Economic Development. On that date, the program will become the responsibility of the Policy Planning Section (Urban Design & Heritage) of the Planning & Regulatory Services Department.
