Town of Richmond Hill - Strategic Initiatives Division

The Strategic Initiatives Division supports the Chief Administrative Officer in directing and championing the Town's long-term strategic planning, corporate communications, corporate policy development, economic development strategy, corporate performance monitoring, organizational reviews and service improvement initiatives. It also takes a lead role in projects as directed by the CAO and Council.

The Strategic Initiatives Division is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Town’s 2009 Strategic Plan. This includes taking action on new initiatives stemming from the Strategic Plan goals, focusing efforts in the Strategic Plan’s key areas of focus, and monitoring progress through annual reporting and the use of performance indicators.

Economic Development

Economic Development is responsible for attracting new investment to Richmond Hill, helping local businesses expand, and assisting local business entrepreneurs. Economic Development offers a wide range of services including site selection, investment marketing, economic indicator research, local real estate market research, facilitation of strategic/economic alliance partnerships, small business consultations, downtown facilitation, and film and conference attraction.

Communication Services
Communication Services is responsible for supporting the operational needs of the corporation by providing pro-active communications advice, service, and products. This section also assists Council and Town departments in communications with constituents by providing accurate, timely and consistent information through the use of media relations, print publications, management of the Corporate website, and advertising.

Grants
The Strategic Initiatives Division is responsible for identifying opportunities and priority areas for fundraising and for Gas Tax spending. Fundraising focuses both on grant programs with established application processes, as well as accessing funds outside of formal grant programs.

Service Improvement
The Strategic Initiatives Division is responsible for process reviews, feasibility studies, and operational studies within the organization. These types of initiatives are focused on improving service within the Town.
