As part of the Town of Richmond Hill's infrastructure renewal program, D.M. Robichaud Associates Ltd. has been contracted (No. TW3505) to rehabilitate the mainline sewer located on Yonge Street between Oxford Street / Industrial Road and Major Mackenzie Drive.
We intend to utilize a form of “Trenchless Technology” called Cured in Place Pipe Lining, which literally forms a new pipe within the existing pipe. The process is designed to be generally non-disruptive and eliminates the need for excavation of the entire sewer line.
Properties along Yonge street will be provided 48-hour hand-delivered written notice before any work commences that will directly affect their sewer connection. The Contractor will also follow up with a personal visit on the day the work is being completed to ensure that the occupants are aware of the disruption of service. We expect that this work will commence in mid-November. The anticipated duration of this project is approximately six weeks.
During the process the sewer service pipe that connects your property to the mainline sewer will be temporarily covered and plugged off while the liner is curing. This takes approximately eight hours.
We will take every precaution to reduce the risk of sewer back-ups into your basement during the operations, however we will require your assistance by informing us if you know or suspect that you have the:
Machinery or equipment that automatically discharges water into the sewer system;
Sump pumps in your basement; and/or
Equipment or machinery that uses high levels water and needs to run 24 hours
If you suspect that you have the above, please contact us at the numbers provided below. We will gladly visit your address to conduct a survey in order that we can put a mutually agreeable plan together, ahead of the scheduled date, to ensure that the requirements of all parties are met.
The Town and the contractor, D.M. Robichaud Associates Ltd. are ready to address any problems or concerns that may arise. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact one of the following:
