Want Garbage & Recycling Schedules at Your Fingertips?
Richmond Hill’s got an App for that!

RICHMOND HILL – Got a smartphone or tablet? You can now get regular reminders for garbage, recycling, yard waste collection and more, with Richmond Hill’s new my-waste app!

“We’re excited to offer this new app to our residents,” said Deputy Mayor Vito Spatafora. “The app provides all your garbage, recycling and other waste collection information at the ready, 24-7 wherever you are. And best of all, residents can download it for free!”

The customizable my-waste app provides mobile device users with:

  • Collection details for garbage, recycling and yard waste (accepted items and preparation requirements);
  • Information about free monthly appliance collection;
  • Alerts to remind you about holiday collection changes;
  • Transfer station locations, hours of operation and fee guide;
  • A Reference Guide that explains what to do with most common materials; and
  • Customer Service phone numbers.

  • “Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can customize it for your neighbourhood and set it up so it gives you regular reminders for garbage, recycling or yard waste collection,” added Deputy Mayor Spatafora. “You can even schedule free monthly appliance pickup and find out where to drop off household hazardous waste or electronics recycling.”

    The my-waste app is available for download on the Town’s website at RichmondHill.ca/MyWaste. Currently, my-waste is available for Apple and Android operating systems only. It is also expected to be available for the new generation of Blackberry devices being released later this year.

    “This is a new way for us to communicate with residents about our waste diversion programs,” said the Deputy Mayor. “We’re continually looking for ways to take advantage of new technology to provide information and services to the community.”

    Don’t have a smartphone or tablet? No problem. Richmond Hill will continue to provide information through the Waste Management Calendar and the Town’s website at RichmondHill.ca/WasteManagement.
