Labour Disruption Updates

The City of Richmond Hill is currently experiencing a labour disruption. On November 22, CUPE 905, the union representing approximately 200 City employees, began strike action. While we continue working towards a negotiated agreement with CUPE 905, some of our City services are affected by the strike.
We are working to minimize any effect of the strike on our residents and businesses, and thank you for your patience during this time.

Plans are underway for the new North Leslie Community Park East (proposed name Heron View Park) on Bawden Drive located east of Leslie Street and north of Elgin Mills Road East. The park includes a junior and senior playground, soccer field, colour coated tennis courts with lighting, fitness equipment, fitness loop, site furnishings including seating with umbrellas, park signage, and planting. Plans are underway to revitalize Melinda Clark Parkette located at 47 Royal Chapin Crescent. This includes the replacement of the playground, safety surfacing, site furniture, signage, walkways, pedestrian lighting, connection to Yonge Street, and planting. RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill is committed to the health and safety of our residents, businesses and visitors. We are currently experiencing a strike by our CUPE 905-represented employees and want to provide an update regarding our winter maintenance services.
Winter maintenance in Richmond Hill will be affected by CUPE 905’s labour disruption. Residents should expect some snow clearing delays if heavy snowfall occurs during the labour disruption.
