December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. It has been over 30 years since the murder of 14 women at Polytechnique Montréal (December 6, 1989). Flags at all Richmond Hill facilities have been lowered to half-mast today to remember these women, their families and others who have experienced gender-based violence.

The City of Richmond Hill’s CUPE 905 represented employees have been on strike for two weeks. While the City has been able to provide many key services during this time, we believe the time has come for our valued employees to return to work.
To facilitate this, earlier today we have reached out to CUPE 905’s bargaining teams to seek their agreement to return to the bargaining table as soon as possible with the assistance of a third-party mediator.

Plans are underway for the new North Leslie Community Park East (proposed name Heron View Park) on Bawden Drive located east of Leslie Street and north of Elgin Mills Road East. The park includes a junior and senior playground, soccer field, colour coated tennis courts with lighting, fitness equipment, fitness loop, site furnishings including seating with umbrellas, park signage, and planting.
