Today, the Province confirmed that York Region, including Richmond Hill, remains at the “Red-Control” level of the COVID-19 response framework.
I am proud of how the Richmond Hill community has stepped up in the fight against COVID-19. All year, residents have done their part to help keep friends, family and neighbours safe. Our businesses have responded and made a difference by offering services and equipment to help keep people healthy. I offer my sincerest thanks to our entire community for the lives you have saved through your efforts.
Your actions matter. As hard as it feels, especially as we head into the holidays, I can’t stress enough how important it is to avoid social gatherings, stay home as much as possible and limit close contact to the people you live with. It is our best chance, not only of avoiding further public health restrictions, but of protecting the people and businesses in our community.
Please continue to follow the guidance of our public health officials: maintain physical distancing; wear a mask or face covering indoors, as well as outdoors if you cannot physical distance; and wash your hands thoroughly and often. And please, if you can, keep helping our local stores and restaurants who have experienced a very challenging year by ordering takeout or delivery, shopping online and supporting them on social media.
There is hope on the horizon, but we must not let our guard down. Please continue to take care of each other and stay safe this holiday season.
