The City of Richmond Hill is committed to the safety of our residents and supports active school travel in our neighbourhoods.
Active school travel consists of travel to and/or from school by walking, wheeling (e.g. cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, using a mobility aid, scootering), or riding the bus.
The City works with York Region District School Board, York Catholic District School Board, York Region, York Regional Police, and other stakeholders to assess and improve school travel conditions and encourage school families to make active school travel choices.
Active school travel is a strong consideration as part of the City’s Transportation Master Plan Update, and Traffic Safety and Operations Strategy. Both of these studies are under development. Stay up-to-date and get involved in the Transportation Master Plan Update.
