Parking regulations
Richmond Hill's Parking Control Section enforces the rules and regulations of our Parking Regulation By-law on public and private property. The Parking Regulation By-law includes a number of rules about parking on public and private property. View some of Richmond Hill's parking rules below.

There is no parking on any street between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. from April 1 to November 30. Signs are posted at border entry points to let you know about the parking restrictions. |

Parking more than 3 hours |
Parking on any street for more than 3 hours between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. is not permitted. (Please be aware of our seasonal overnight parking rules) You can buy a temporary parking permit to park for more than 3 hours or overnight on a Richmond Hill street. There are signs at all border entry points to let you know about these parking restrictions. |

Parking during a declared Winter Event (interference with snow removal / winter operations) |
Vehicles parked on any street during a Winter Event, or so as to interfere with snow removal/winter operations may be towed. There is a $100 fine for drivers who don't move their cars off the street during snow removal. There are signs at all border entry points to let you know about the parking restrictions. |

| Accessible parking spaces | Accessible parking spaces may not be used without the appropriate permit. This regulation follows the Ontarians with Disabilities Act. | $350.00 |
| Too close to fire hydrant | It is the law to park at least 3 metres away from all fire hydrants. | $100.00 |
| Park in a fire route | You can not park in a fire route at any time. These routes are clearly marked with signs. | $200.00 |
| Parking on boulevards | Parking is prohibited on any boulevard, which is the area between the travelled roadway and a property line. A boulevard does not include the apron of a driveway (the front of your driveway beginning from the road). | $40.00 |

| Obstructing a sidewalk | Vehicles can't obstruct the use of sidewalks in anyway. This includes any portion of your vehicle overhanging the sidewalk. | $50.00 |
| Park within 30cm of curb | When parking on any street, your vehicle must be parallel to the curb or boundary of the street, and not more than 30cm (12 inches) from that curb/boundary. | $40.00 |

Accessible Parking
A permit holder or driver (operating a vehicle for the purpose of transporting an accessible permit holder) who displays a valid accessible parking permit is entitled to park in the City of Richmond Hill:
- In an accessible parking spot
- In a “No Parking” zone (except between the hours of 3 a.m. - 6 a.m.)
- In any three-hour parking limit spaces
Persons with a valid accessible parking permit are not exempted from:
- Paying for parking at Lake Wilcox Park pay parking machines
- Parking in a “No Stopping” zone
- Parking on the street during a declared winter event
- Parking on the street during the hours of 3 a.m. - 6 a.m.
- Interfering with winter operation, fire route, fire hydrant too close to intersections, park on boulevard, obstructing sidewalk and any other parking violations
