Sister cities are pairs of Citys or cities in different countries that are linked to one another through an agreement or partnership. Richmond Hill is proudly twinned with Netanya, Shijiazhuang and Lakeland.
Netanya, Israel
Netanya was twinned with Richmond Hill on November 22, 2016 to further enhance the economic and overall well-being of both communities. Netanya is home to some of Israel’s most successful incubators and accelerators. It is also home to Poleg Industrial Park – a technology park housing some of the most innovative technology companies in Israel. Famous for its beautiful beaches, Netanya is a popular tourist destination. Both Netanya and Richmond Hill are leaders in the high-tech sector and this agreement will support our businesses’ ability to compete on a global scale.
Shijiazhuang, China
Shijiazhuang was twinned with Richmond Hill on July 9, 1998. Shijiazhuang is the economic, political, cultural and tourism centre of China’s Hebei Province. Shijiazhuang has the largest base for the pharmaceutical industry in China and is also focused on the textile, petrochemical, building materials and electronics sectors. Shijiazhuang is renowned for being the final resting place for Canadian surgeon and medical inventor Dr. Norman Bethune. Both communities are able to benefit from our shared focus on the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors.
Lakeland, Florida
Lakeland was twinned with Richmond Hill on March 30, 1990. Located between Tampa and Orlando, Lakeland is well-known for its annual SUN 'n FUN Fly-in Airshow, the second largest event of its kind in the world. Lakeland and Richmond Hill are similar in terms of size, population and residential and commercial characteristics. The relationship was established to further friendship and to contribute to the development and prosperity of both communities.
