Household Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste includes materials that are corrosive, explosive, flammable or poisonous. This type of waste can get into our drinking water, soil and air if it is washed down drains or thrown in the garbage. Never place hazardous waste in your garbage, blue box or green bin. It should be taken to one of York Region's household hazardous waste depots.
Household hazardous waste includes items such as:
- Paint
- Pesticides
- Propane tanks
- Batteries
- Pharmaceuticals
- Syringes
- Thermostats
- Used motor oil and filters

- Many cleaning products
