Scott Thompson is the youngest of four children and grew up in Willowdale. After getting married, he and his wife Lillian, moved to Richmond Hill in 1998 to raise their two children. Scott has been a volunteer with large charitable organizations such as Variety Village Ontario and the Canadian Ski Patrol System, in operational, administrative and executive capacities. After moving to Richmond Hill, Scott coached in both the Richmond Hill Stars/Kings organization as well as the Richmond Hill Ringette Association where he subsequently joined the Executive Team and handled media relations from 2011 to 2014. Scott served as a member of Richmond Hill’s Committee of Adjustment from 2014 to 2018, and proudly served on the Executive team of the Council Accountability Group (CAG) from December 2019 to August 2022.
During a 37 year government career, Scott effectively delivered administrative services and consultative advice to Ontario municipal and provincial governments and agencies. From the various boards and committees that Scott has chaired or participated on, he has learnt what it takes to work in a team environment and to develop and maintain relationships with often very diverse groups of clients. Scott’s career included the recommendation, establishment and implementation of a Corporate Cards Unit to efficiently and effectively streamline and manage program delivery for 28 provincial ministries and agencies and recover approximately $400K annually in consolidated revenue for the Province of Ontario. Scott’s leadership in rolling out chip and pin technology to the province’s 35,000 corporate cardholders was recognized with a Service Excellence Award.
Scott’s strong grasp of governmental structure and procedure, coupled with the knowledge he has attained through studying various municipal and provincial acts, regulations and statutes has positioned him well to address and represent the interests and well being of the residents of Ward 2 and Richmond Hill as a whole.
