RICHMOND HILL – Eligible voters in the City of Richmond Hill will be able to vote in-person in the 2024 York Region District School Board Trustee (Wards 1, 2 and 4) By-election.

In-person voting will be available on Saturday, July 13, 2024 and Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Voting Day, Monday, July 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Check if you are on the Voters’ List

You must be registered on the Voters’ List to vote. It’s easy to check if you are on the Voters’ List:

• Visit RichmondHill.ca/RHVotes and select ‘Am I on the Voters’ List?’  or
• Call the Voter Assistance Helpline at 905-771-5555

Please confirm your information is correct and complete on the Voters’ List to ensure a smooth voting process. Voters who register by mid-June will receive a Voter Information Package (VIP) by mail in June. Voters who register later than mid-June will receive their VIP by email.

The VIP will contain the information required to cast your ballot online.

Voter Eligibility

You qualify to vote in the 2024 School Board By-election, if on Voting Day (Monday, July 15, 2024) you are:

• A Canadian Citizen
• At least 18 years old
• A resident of the City of Richmond Hill, who lives in Wards 1, 2 or 4
• A non-resident owner or tenant of residential property, or spouse of such owner or tenant of residential property, located in Richmond Hill Wards 1, 2 or 4
• An English Public School Board supporter;
• Not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, or any law

Each eligible voter can only vote once in the 2024 Richmond Hill School Board By-election – it’s the law.

Becoming a Candidate

In this By-election, the voters of Richmond Hill will elect a York Region School Board Trustee for Wards 1, 2 and 4. The elected Trustee will begin when they are sworn into their office and will serve the rest of the present term till November 14, 2026.

All candidates for School Board Trustee must submit a completed nomination form, the declaration of qualifications and pay the prescribed filing fee of $100. All nominations must be filed in person by the candidate or candidate’s agent.

Forms are available at RichmondHill.ca/RHVotes. Nominations will be accepted until 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024.
