Senior Tax Grant
Richmond Hill's Seniors Tax Assistance Grant Program gives tax grants to residents who meet the following requirements:
- are 65 years of age or older
- receive a Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement
- have owned their home in Richmond Hill for at least one year
- use their home as their main residence
- there is a limit to one grant per household per year.

The application period for the 2024 year has closed.

The deadline for a Senior Tax Assistance Grant is September 30 of the year of the application. Any applications received after the deadline will not be processed.
Applications received by March 31 will be applied to the 2024 Final Tax Bill, if approved. Applications received between April 1 and September 30 each year will be processed; however, you will have to pay the total of your Final Tax Bill as billed to avoid penalty and interest charges. The grant, if approved, will be applied as a credit to your property tax account.
A notice of Senior Tax Grant Adjustment will be mailed with an explanation of your credit and account summary. Should you have any questions, please call Access Richmond Hill at 905-771-8949.
Ontario Senior Homeowner's Property Tax Grant
You may also qualify for this grant (of up to $500) if you are a senior homeowner with a lower income. Find out more about this grant on the Ministry of Finance website or call them at 1-866-668-8297 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
