Born in North York on February 9, 1972, Greg Beros was two when his family moved to the north of end of Richmond Hill. Oak Ridges was a small community then and Greg’s immigrant father opened a tire shop on King Road. Greg attended Oak Ridges Public School and during high school and college, he worked with his father in the shop. He continually worked at the shop until he was first elected to Richmond Hill Council in 2006.

Greg was always involved in the Oak Ridges Community. In 2000, he joined the Oak Ridges Lions Club. He served in numerous positions and was the president for four terms. During this time, he assisted with finding sponsors for local sports associations. Greg has raised money for a number of nonprofit groups. In 2007, Greg accepted the position of Chair for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign and since then has raised well over 1.5 million dollars.

As a Councillor, Greg has always fought to keep taxes low and to gain efficiencies while making sure Oak Ridges receives the infrastructure it needs. It has been a lifelong dream of his to have a community centre in Oak Ridges. Greg was able to chair the planning and building committee to do just that and, in 2014, the new facility was opened to the public. Since then, the Lake Wilcox shore line has been rebuilt and the Splash Pad has opened.

Oak Ridges has seen many new parks and trails built in the last 14 years. This year another goal will be realized with the opening of the new Oak Ridges Public Library. Another large project that will open this year is the youth park, featuring a skateboard area and four beach volleyball courts. Greg realized the importance of great customer service when working with his dad in the shop many years ago, today the tradition continues. If you need help, a simple phone call, text or email reaches Greg and he is ready to listen and assist where he can.
