Property Taxes

COVID-19 Update: To support those impacted financially by COVID-19, Richmond Hill waived penalties and interest on late property tax payments through the end of the year.

Beginning January 31, 2021, interest on unpaid taxes will be applied monthly. Late payment penalties will apply to 2021 tax instalments.

All taxpayers with an outstanding balance of $10 or more will receive a reminder notice early in December 2020.

All property owners in Richmond Hill must pay their property taxes. Residential and commercial property owners will receive a tax bill including their property tax rates, property assessment and class and payment dates and deadlines.

Paying your taxes

Property owners are responsible for making sure that they receive their tax bills and for making the required payments on time. You will not be excused from paying your taxes if you do not get a bill. Make sure that Richmond Hill has your current mailing address information.

We offer a number of payment options including pre-authorized payment.

Richmond Hill now accepts credit card payments for property taxes. With this option, the company that processes the payment will collect a 2.5% service fee. Visit our credit card payment page to access this option. To learn more about credit card payments please view our Payment Options page.
