Richmond Hill Passport to Culture is a year-long cultural adventure inviting residents and visitors to explore Richmond Hill’s arts, heritage, and culture scene. From galleries and festivals to hidden gems and the David Dunlap Observatory, participants collect digital stamps by visiting cultural sites and events across the city. Contest Rules and Regulations

Richmond Hill Passport to Culture ("Contest")

From February 1, 2026 to 11:59 p.m. on December 1, 2026 (“Contest Period”)

The Corporation of the City of Richmond Hill (the “Corporation”)

How to Enter

No purchase required. To enter the Contest, participants must complete the Richmond Hill Passport to Culture digital challenge by collecting the required number of digital stamps using the official web application.

  • Collect Stamps: Visit participating locations and scan the QR codes to collect 6 of 7 stamps in the app.

  • Submit Entry: To be valid, you must complete the contest entry form and your entry must be received by 11:59 p.m. on December 1, 2026

Limit of one entry per person. If you attempt or are suspected of attempting to enter more than once per the contest period or use robotic, automatic, programmed or any entry methods not authorized by these rules, it shall be deemed as tampering and will void your entry(ies).

Eligibility

The Contest is open to all adults who are 18 years of age or older at the Contest opening date.

Employees of the Corporation, as well as such employees’ immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to enter this Contest.

Procedure for Awarding Prizes

On December 4, 2026 a random draw will be conducted by the Community Services Department of the Corporation from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Period.

The first (1st) selected contestant to correctly answer the mandatory mathematical skill-testing question shall be declared the winner, subject to meeting all the conditions described in these rules. The second selected contestant to correctly answer the mandatory mathematical skill-testing question shall be declared the runner-up, subject to meeting all the conditions described in these rules.

Winner(s) will be contacted by staff of the Corporation through the email or phone number they provided when they submitted their entry, during the week following the draw. If a winner cannot be reached within three (3) business days following the first attempt of contact, incorrectly answers the mathematical skill-testing question, or declines the prize, the prize shall be forfeited and the Corporation has the right, at its sole discretion, to select another winner.

Description of Prize(s)

There is one (1) Prize available to be won.

The prize is a Richmond Hill Cultural Experience including an overnight stay at the Sheraton Hotel with breakfast buffet, tickets to a show at RHCPA, Family pass to the Wave Pool, gift certificate to a local restaurant, and art supplies with a value of $350.

General Rules

  1. To be declared a winner, the selected contestant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question. 
  2. Each winner shall sign a release declaring their eligibility as stipulated in Section 2 of these rules; agreeing that their name and image may be used for advertising purposes related to this Contest free of charge; and releasing the Corporation as well as its respective directors, officers and employees (the “Contest Parties”) from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this Contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.
  3. The prize(s) shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or refunded for an amount of money, sold or transferred. No substitutions will be allowed. Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited.
  4. If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, the Corporation reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value, as determined in its sole discretion.
  5. Refusal to accept the prize releases the Contest Parties from any obligation toward the winner.
  6. If a contestant makes any false statement, (s)he will be automatically disqualified from the Contest. The winner will have to validate their date of birth and mailing address prior to receiving the prize.
  7. The Contest Parties assume no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including without limitation: 
    • lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, illegible or incomplete entries; 
    • loss, theft or damage to software or computer or telephone data, including any breach of privacy;
    • fraudulent calls;
    • inability of any person to participate in the Contest for any reason including mistaken addresses on mail or email;
    • technical, computer or telephone malfunctions or other problems with computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, or software;
    • congestion on the internet or at any website;
    • damage to any person’s computer, including as a result of playing or downloading any material relating to the Contest;
    • any delay or inability to act resulting from any event or situation beyond their control whatsoever, including a public health or other emergency, or strike, lockout or other labour dispute;
    • or prizes that are lost, damaged or misdirected during shipping.
  8. The Corporation reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond their reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Corporation reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
  9. All personal information, such as name and contact information, is collected by the Corporation solely for the purposes of administering this Contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your express consent. Personal information collected for this Contest is kept separate from any anonymous location data or "stamps" collected via the Passport App. Your location history is not linked to your contest entry. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes. Please see the Corporation’s privacy policy.
  10. If the identity of a contestant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the email address used to submit the entry at the time of entry will be deemed to be the contestant. The individual assigned to the email address associated with the submitted entry is considered the authorized account holder. All entries must be submitted from a valid email account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server.
  11. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, using any robotic, automatic programmed method that artificially increases the odds of winning or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the Corporation. The Corporation is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest.
  12. The Corporation reserves the right to amend the Contest rules or to terminate the Contest at any time without any liability to any contestant. Any amendments to these Contest rules will be posted on RichmondHill.ca/RHCulture.
  13. By entering, you agree to abide by the Contest rules and the decisions of the City, whose decisions are final and binding on all contestants.

What is the Richmond Hill Passport to Culture?
Passport to Culture is a free, year-long cultural experience that encourages residents and visitors to explore Richmond Hill’s arts, heritage, and culture by collecting digital stamps at participating sites and events.

How do I participate?
Scan a Passport to Culture QR code at a participating site or event, or click the link above using your mobile device. The first time you scan, you’ll be asked to enter the first three digits of your postal code to start your passport.

How do I collect stamps?
Visit a participating cultural site, event, or program and scan the QR code on-site. Your stamp will be added automatically to your passport.

What if I cannot find the QR code at a site or event?
Signs are posted in prominent locations indoors and outdoors, close to entrances. Ask a staff working at the location you are at to help you locate the sign.

Do I need to visit every site listed?
No. Each passport stop has multiple ways to earn a stamp, giving you flexibility to choose the experiences that interest you most.

How many stamps do I need to complete the passport?
You must complete all six of the seven passport stops. 

Is Passport to Culture free?
Yes. Participation is free. Some activities and events are free, while others may have an admission fee. You can choose your level of participation based on your interests and budget.

Is this family-friendly?
Yes. Passport to Culture is designed for all ages and includes many family-friendly experiences. If children participate, a parent or guardian must complete the contest entry on their behalf.

Do I need to complete the passport all at once?
No. The passport can be completed over multiple visits and across different seasons throughout the year as long as you scan the QR codes using the same device. 

Do I need to download an app?
No app download is required. Passport to Culture works directly in your mobile devices web browser.

Why aren’t my stamps saving?
If your stamps are not saving, you may be using a private or incognito browser. Try using a regular browser session to ensure your progress is saved.

What is the prize?
Participants who complete their passport can enter to win the City of Richmond Hill Cultural Prize Pack, featuring an overnight stay at a local hotel, tickets to a RHCPA show, family passes to the Wave Pool and other cultural experiences. 

How do I enter the contest?
Once you complete your passport, you’ll be directed to the contest entry form.

When is the deadline to submit my passport?
Completed passports must be submitted by December 1, 2026, 11:59 p.m. to be eligible for the prize draw.
