Fun Things to do in Richmond Hill this Winter

Skate in the great outdoors
  • Visit the Outdoor Skating page for information about outdoor skating opportunities in Richmond Hill.
  • Skating is prohibited at all Richmond Hill stormwater ponds. Violators will be fined.
Go walking in a winter wonderland

When it snows, the City’s 147 open parks and 32 km (16.5 km added this year) of maintained trails are beautiful for a walk or hike. Residents are encouraged to stay local and explore some of the many features with members of their own household. You can also take your four-legged friend with you to enjoy our two off-leash dog areas.

Note that winter walking and hiking trails are slippery when snow and ice are present, so proceed with caution.  These trails are secondary routes that will be salted and plowed at the end of a snowfall event, however trail conditions must be monitored and additional caution is required.

For a full listing of parks and trails in Richmond Hill, including the trails in the table below, use the Guide to Parks and Trails in Richmond Hill (look for the ID and Block number) or visit the Parks, Trails and Facilities Directory.

Please continue to practice physical distancing, wear a mask if distancing isn’t possible and do not congregate in groups of more than five, unless you live together.
