The City offers a variety of parking permits that you can apply for including temporary parking permits (and accommodations during winter weather) and Lake Wilcox parking permits.

Temporary Parking Permits

Residents can obtain free temporary parking permits to facilitate driveway work for a maximum of three cars for up to five days per year. The permits can be obtained by contacting Parking Control at 905-771-8860 at least one week in advance of the start of work.

Richmond Hill residents and guests can buy a temporary parking permit online at any time (registration and login required).

Lake Wilcox Park Resident Parking Permits

Pay parking at Lake Wilcox Park is in effect from April 1 to September 30 each year. Parking permits are not required to use the park parking lots from October 1 to March 30 – parking is free at this time.

Free parking permits are available for Richmond Hill residents starting February 19 for the current year (residents must obtain a new free permit annually). These permits are linked to a license plate number and residents can obtain one permit per household. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

Please contact Parking at 905-771-8860 from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or email parking@richmondhill.ca,  if you have:

  • A household requiring more than one free permit. Note, a valid reason for requiring more than one permit is required (i.e.,  a second permit will be issued for accessibility reasons, for Oak Ridges Community Centre users or if there are tenant/property owner arrangements at a particular address).
  • Previously registered a vehicle plate, and need assistance.

Steps to obtain your parking permit:

  1. Click on "Get my Lake Wilcox Parking Permit" button
  2. Click "Obtain a Parking Permit"
  3. Create an account or enter your existing login information
  4. Print your parking permit to keep in your vehicle

* Free Lake Wilcox Parking Permit will not show up as an option until you are signed in.
