What is a Character Community?
A Character Community is one in which elected officials, community leaders in the education, business and faith communities, law enforcement, media sectors and citizens-at-large promote the importance of good character. A Character Community has leaders who model the character attributes.

Character Attributes
OPTIMISM (January) |  INITIATIVE (February) | PERSEVERANCE (March) | RESPECT (April) | RESPONSIBILITY (May) | HONESTY (June) | INTEGRITY (July) | COMPASSION (August) | COURAGE (September) | INCLUSIVENESS (October) | FAIRNESS (November) | HUMOUR (December) |

Mission Statement
We will work together to make York Region a Character Community by nurturing positive character attributes.

Vision Statement
In York Region, people recognize and promote the importance of good character. They treat others as they would like to be treated, show respect, are accountable, fair, honest and courageous, have empathy, persevere, show initiative and act with integrity.
