The “Concerts in the Park” series has been one of the great joys of summer in Richmond Hill since 1975. Residents are encouraged to come out and enjoy an exciting line-up of musical talent in genres including Blues, Country, Rock and Roll, Celtic, tribute bands, children’s acts and so much more!
The free outdoor concerts, presented by Tim Hortons, take place on Thursday evenings in July (beginning July 8) and August at Mill Pond Park and some Sunday afternoons at Richmond Green Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or cushions to each concert for seating.
CONCERTS AT MILL POND PARK
Location Beautiful Mill Pond Park is located at the northwest corner of Mill Street and Trench Street in Richmond Hill, just a few blocks north of York Central Hospital. The nearest major road to the south is Major Mackenzie Drive and the nearest major intersection is Major Mackenzie Drive and Yonge Street to the southeast.

Thursday Evening Concerts’ Barbecue
Enjoy an evening out and support the Concerts in the Park Series! The Concerts’ barbecue features hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, drinks and ice cream treats (in limited quantities) with all proceeds raised from the barbecue going towards the concert series.
An Olde-Tyme Corn Roast will be presented by the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre on August 12, 19, and 26 (quantities are limited).
Parking
Limited public and disabled parking is available adjacent to Mill Pond Park and street parking is prohibited and enforced by by-law officers. Concert patrons will find additional concerts parking at the York Central Hospital – East Parking Lot (located on the east side of Trench Street, just north of Major Mackenzie Drive) available after 5:30 p.m. on concert performance evenings. Indoor washroom facilities are located across the street from the park adjacent to the parking lot.
Wildlife
It’s not just people that enjoy the Concerts in the Parks Series! A variety of waterfowl call the pond home and concert patrons are encouraged to respect the wildlife by not feeding or approaching these animals.
CONCERTS AT RICHMOND GREEN PARK – OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATRE
Location
The largest park in Richmond Hill, Richmond Green Sports Complex and Park is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Leslie Street and Elgin Mills Road East. The park is easily accessible from Highway 404 (located to the east) where Concerts’ patrons coming from either the north or south will use the Elgin Mills Road exit. Be sure to come early and enjoy the many amenities this premier park has to offer!

Parking
The Concerts’ performances are held at the outdoor amphitheatre which is located north of the Richmond Green Sports Complex and south of the Park Ring Road. The nearest parking area (recommended for those requiring disabled parking) is easily accessible by traveling north on Leslie past Elgin Mills Road East to the park’s William F. Bell Parkway entrance. By following the Parkway to the Park Ring Road, concert goers will be able to see the amphitheatre to the south. General and disabled parking is also available via the main entrance to the park which is accessible from Elgin Mills Road East.
Washrooms
Indoor washroom facilities are available south of the amphitheatre in the Richmond Green Sports Complex; north of the Park Ring Road in an indoor shelter; and west in an indoor shelter adjacent to the in-line skating trail and waterplay splash pad. An accessible port-o-let is also available northeast of the amphitheatre.

Mill Pond Concerts:
July 8 – The Carpet Frogs: Being a back-up band for Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman has certainly taught this band how to rock! You won’t want to miss great hits from the Guess Who, including “American Woman,” ”These Eyes” and “No Time.”
July 15 – Jack Grunsky: Join us for a great evening with Juno Award-winning children’s performer Jack Grunsky, who will rock, sing and lullaby the night away.
July 22 – Tribute to the Blues - Mike Cadó: This eight-piece jazz group defines hip! Come and enjoy one of the GTA’s best jazz and blues groups at beautiful Mill Pond Park.
July 29 – Retrocity: For pure acappellatude, look no further than these seven totally rad singers! Be amazed as they boogaloo their way through your favourite tunes from the 80s and beyond without a Casio keyboard or drum machine in sight!
August 5 – Cindy Thompson and the Richmond Hill Centennial Pipe Band: Join us for a truly memorable Canadian musical experience with this Ottawa Valley Celtic fiddler, singer and dancer! The Richmond Hill Centennial Pipe Band will perform during intermission.
August 12 – The Good Brothers: Spend a summer night with home town favourites The Good Brothers, as they sing and play their own brand of country rock.
August 19 – Erick Traplin: Dance, sing, play and have fun with one of Canada’s most engaging children performers, Erick Traplin.
August 26 – Hotel California – Tribute to the Eagles: Rock out at this final Thursday night concert with an amazing salute to the Eagles including all their big hits like “Desperado,” “Take it Easy” and “Heartache Tonight.”

July 25 – Judy & David: Enjoy an afternoon of music and fun with Canada’s Juno Award-winning children’s “Sing-A-Long Superstars” of stage and TV fame!
August 8 – Neu Jenarashun: This fabulous Toronto-based Caribbean band will dance, sing and play the irresistible rhythms of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Soul and R & B at this final Sunday afternoon concert.
Concert Cancellations
Summer weather becomes a key consideration to the safety of the Concerts’ patrons. In the event of inclement weather near to or during a performance, it will be determined if the concert will continue as scheduled. In the event of cancellations, signage will be posted on the gazebo at Mill Pond Park by 7:30 p.m. that evening or at the Richmond Green Park front gate sign by 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. Concert goers can also call the Concerts in the Park Hotline at (905) 771-5466 for status updates of concerts the day of a scheduled performance. Unfortunately, concerts cannot be rescheduled.
Non-perishable Food Donations Benefiting the Richmond Hill Food Bank
Non-perishable food donations are accepted at each Thursday night (donation bin is located near the barbecue ticket sales table) and Sunday afternoon concert (donation bin is located near the performance stage) which go on to assist members of the Richmond Hill community with much needed resources.
