    NEW PARKS & OPEN SPACES

    Rocking Horse Ranch - Construction Complete
    The new Rocking Horse Ranch park on Hunting Ridges Drive (off Jefferson Forest Drive, north of 19th Avenue and east of Yonge Street) includes an unlit double tennis court, full basketball court, senior play area with swings (5-12+ years), adult fitness equipment, shade structure, a walking loop and space for passive recreation.

    PARK OPENING CELEBRATION: Wednesday, June 10, 6-7:30 P.M.
    You're invited to attend the Rocking Horse Ranch Official Park Opening Celebrations. Enjoy refreshments, entertainment and a variety of activities. The ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Mayor and Members of Council will take place at 6:30 p.m.

    Snakes and Ladders ParkConstruction Underway 
    The new parkette on Mancini Crescent, near Jefferson Forest Drive (north of 19th Avenue, west of Bayview Avenue) will include a junior and senior playground, life-size and tabletop Snake & Ladders game board, seating areas and plantings.

    Construction is scheduled to take place from June to October 2015, weather permitting. As a measure of safety, the site will be fenced off during construction and residents are asked to refrain from entering the park.

    Meander ParkConstruction Underway
    Meander Park on Alpaca Drive (north of Tower Hill Road and west of Yonge Street) will include a junior and senior playground, shade structure, landform play zone, paths and plantings. Construction is scheduled to take place from June 2015 to October 2015, weather permitting. As a measure of safety, the site will be fenced off during construction and residents are asked to refrain from entering the park.

    Saigeon Trail extension between Towerhill Road and Jefferson Sideroad - Design Underway
    An extension of the Saigeon Trail is in the planning stages. Construction is planned for 2015, pending budget approval.

    A Public Open House was held on July 3 for residents to comment on  the proposed design.

    Rouge Crest Park - Construction Underway 
    This new community park at Rothbury Road and Mayan Avenue includes a senior soccer field, multi-sports court, junior and senior playgrounds, a splash pad and more!

    Town staff and the project design team held a public open house in September 2013 to discuss the proposed design with the community.

    Philips Ridge Park - Construction Underway
    A new park on Milos Road, off of Philips View Crescent is currently in the design stage. The park may include a junior soccer field, multi-sports court, junior and senior playgrounds, shade structure, and plantings.

    Town staff and the project design team held a public open house on Thursday, October 3 to discuss the proposed design with the community.

    Lake Wilcox Park - Construction Underway
    The Lake Wilcox shoreline is getting a makeover! The new promenade is now open and construction of the boardwalk is underway. We're also proposing to create a youth precinct at the south end of the park. For more information about this project, visit RichmondHill.ca/LakeWilcoxPark.



    TransRichmond Trail Gamble Glen ConnectionDesign Underway
    A new trail connection between the existing TransRichmond Trail and Gamble Glen Crescent (located south of Gamble Road, east of Bathurst Street) is currently in the design stage. The alignment will be selected to keep environmental impacts to a minimum. Construction is proposed for 2016 pending budget approval.

    You're invited to a Public Open House to review the proposed design for this new trail connection. Town staff will be on-hand for informal discussions.     Hidden Springs ParketteDesign Underway
    A new parkette on Arten Avenue, south of Elgin Mills Road, west of Yonge Street is currently in the preliminary design stage. The parkette will include a junior playground, a senior playground, seating areas and plantings. Construction is proposed for 2016, pending budget approval.

    A Public Open House was held on Wednesday, April 8 for residents to comment on the proposed design. If you were unable to attend, you can provide comments until April 22, 2015 by completing the comment sheet at the link below and submitting it to samuel.ng@richmondhill.ca . Only comment sheets with complete name and address will be considered.

    ENHANCEMENTS TO CURRENT PARKS & TRAILS 

    Beaver Greenway & South Richvale Greenway Trail Improvements
    Please be advised that construction will be ongoing at Beaver Greenway and South Richvale Greenway Trails this summer. As a result, the trails will be closed as follows:
  • Beaver Greenway Trail between Boake Trail and Leslie Street closed July 6 to July 20, 2015.
  • Beaver Greenway Trail between Major Mackenzie Drive East and Clarendon Drive and between Clarendon Drive and Boake Trail closed July 6, 2015 to August 7, 2015.
  • South Richvale Greenway Trail between Carrville Road and Castle Rock Drive and between Castle Rock Drive and Weldrick Road closed July 6, 2015 to August 7, 2015.

    As a measure of safety, we ask residents to refrain from entering the trails while work is ongoing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Hughy Park - Design underway
    The Town is planning to replace the playground at Hughy Park (located on Fern Valley Crescent, west of Bloomfield Trail, south of Bloomington Road West) and upgrade the site to meet current standards. Construction will occur in 2016 pending budget approval.

    PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE: Wednesday, June 10, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Oak Ridges Community Centre - Fire Pit Area, 12895 Bayview Avenue
    You're invited to come out and review the proposed design, which includes new playground equipment, fitness equipment, a concrete pathway, lighting, additional seating and plantings. Town staff will be on-hand for informal discussions. Alternatively, you can provide comments until June 24, 2015 by completing the 'Comment Sheet' at the link below and sending it as per the instructions provided. Only comment sheets with complete name and address will be considered.

    Oak Ridges Meadow Improvements - Construction underway
    The Town is replacing the playground at Oak Ridges Meadow and adding a trail with a boardwalk, concrete paving and curbs, rock work, woodworking, furniture and plantings. Town staff held a public open house on Tuesday October 14, 2014 to discuss the proposed design with the community. Based on this meeting, the Town plans to proceed with the design as presented. Construction is scheduled to begin in late June 2015 and be completed by June 2016 (weather permitting). As a measure of safety, the site will be fenced off during construction and all residents are asked to refrain from entering the park.

    William Harrison Park – Construction underway
    The Town is expanding the existing William Harrison Park to include the additional land on the north end of the park. Improvements will include a shade structure, planting, site furnishings and walkway connections.

    Town staff held a public open house on Wednesday, September 25 to discuss the proposed design with the community.

The tennis courts and playgrounds will remain open during construction.

     Richvale Greenway North Bridge Replacement – Design Underway
    The Town is planning to replace an existing pedestrian bridge that crosses the East Don River located north of May Street, east of Kersey Crescent. The bridge will be raised and realigned with a new 14 metre pedestrian bridge. Stream rehabilitation work may also be required. We are currently in the design stage. Construction is proposed for 2016 pending budget approval.

     Crosby Park Home Run Fence Replacement - Design Underway
    The replacement of the existing baseball home run fence at Crosby Park is proposed for 2015 subject to budget approval.
