Richmond Hill – Richmond Hill is working to increase the housing supply to help alleviate a province-wide housing crisis. The City is developing proposed changes to its Official Plan and Zoning By-laws to increase the number of residential units that can be built on a property.
The proposed changes will allow up to four residential units on single-detached, semi-detached, or townhouse properties, where currently three are permitted.

RICHMOND HILL – In effort to protect birds from urban hazards, Council has endorsed mandatory Bird-Safe Design Standards for new private and public buildings in Richmond Hill, effective immediately.
According to Birds Canada, approximately 25 million migratory birds die as a direct result of collisions with buildings in Canada each year. RICHMOND HILL – In celebration of birds and their importance to the community and environment, the public is invited to help select Richmond Hill’s ‘Bird Friendly City’ bird.
The following six feathered friends have been chosen as the top contenders:
- American Goldfinch
- Bald Eagle
