Richmond Hill Blooms
Richmond Hill Blooms is a program designed to encourage residents to play a role in beautifying our community by creating attractive, colourful and well-maintained front gardens.
Front Yards Gardening Workshop & Plant Sale
Planning your front garden and don’t know where to start? This free workshop will be presented by sustainable landscaper Sean James from Sean James Consulting & Design.
This workshop also features a plant sale hosted by the Richmond Hill Garden and Horticultural Society.
Workshop Topic: An Appetite for Gardening: Incorporating Edibles into a Traditional Landscape
Many home gardeners (but, sadly few professional landscapers/designers) are looking to grow more of their own food, but why relegate edible plants to the back corner, punishing them like they’ve misbehaved? “Go sit in the corner. Think about what you’ve done!” Many fruits and veggies are beautiful and offer wonderful texture and colour; think about eggplant, rhubarb and kale! Growing vines (beans, squash, tomatoes) on trellises and espaliering fruit trees can also be a great way to use vertical surfaces to embiggen your landscape and fill the pantry at the same time! We’ll discuss all options!
Date: Wednesday, May 14
Time: 7-8:30 p.m.
Location: McConaghy Centre, 10100 Yonge Street, Multi-Purpose Room

Front garden recognition program
Residents are invited to nominate their favourite Richmond Hill front gardens for recognition. You can nominate your friends, family, neighbours or even your own front garden.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. Garden designs can be anything from a lush, green oasis to a vivid array of colours and scents to a pollinator’s paradise. All nominated properties will receive a recognition sign to proudly display in the front garden.
How to nominate a garden for recognition
The 2025 nomination period will begin on Monday, June 2. Subscribe for updates at the bottom of the page to be notified when the online nomination form becomes available.
Please note that the judging portion of the front garden recognition program has been discontinued. Instead, the program is going back to its roots and will focus on encouraging a higher level of participation across the community.

- Nectar feeders
- Nesting spaces such as bee hotels or fallen logs
- Places to rest such as flat stones in sunny places
- Avoids the use of insecticides or fertilizers
Sticker pickup location: Front reception of the Richmond Hill Operations Centre (1200 Elgin Mills Road East). Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are not required.
