Environmental Policy
Richmond Hill's Environmental Policy includes our vision statement, mission and commitment to becoming a greener community. The Policy provides a foundation for detailed goals and actions outlined in our Environment Strategy and Environmental Management System.
Environment Strategy
Richmond Hill's Environment Strategy, "Greening the Hill: Our Community, Our Future", was first approved by Council in 2014 and updated in 2022. It reflects our community's concern about protecting the environment and provides guidance on managing our resources accordingly. The Strategy outlines our environmental challenges and opportunities, and describes how we can improve the sustainability of our community over a 15-year timeframe.
Environmental Scorecard
The City’s first Environmental Scorecard provides a high-level snapshot of environmental progress from the first five years of Environment Strategy implementation (2015-2019). The Scorecard fulfils the Council commitment contained within the Environment Strategy to develop and publish an Environmental Scorecard at regular intervals.
Environmental Management System
Richmond Hill's Environmental Management System (EMS) helps us to identify and understand the environmental impacts of our municipal services, facilities and operations, and how we can best manage and reduce these impacts. The System also demonstrates our leadership and commitment to corporate environmental responsibility.
