Our Commitment to Building a Vibrant and Inclusive City of Neighbours
Richmond Hill grows and thrives thanks to the dedication and commitment of everyone who works at the City.
By 2031, the community is expected to welcome more than 25,000 new residents. Growth brings many benefits, from economic to vibrancy to diversity, and the City is ready to meet these evolving needs.
Guided by the three pillars of Richmond Hill's Strategic Plan—Growing a livable, sustainable community, Focusing on People and Strengthening our Foundations—the City consistently looks for ways to improve and deliver the best services to the people of Richmond Hill. Below are a few recent accomplishments, along with a look at plans to continue making the community a vibrant home for everyone to live, work and play.
Growing a livable, sustainable community
In 2025, we made our community greener, safer and more livable.
- We expanded the Traffic Safety and Operations Strategy to ease traffic and enhance safety across the community, including initiatives such as installing pedestrian cross-overs and new signalized intersections.
- We worked with residents and businesses to plant almost 9,000 trees through our Community Stewardship Program.
- We fixed and upgraded 1000 metres of roads, 850 metres of storm sewers and 1000 metres of watermains.
- We completed Richmond Hill’s first Comprehensive Zoning By-law to set modern development standards.

- We’re creating an Affordable Housing Concierge Program to help build more homes for more people.
