How Does the Ladder League Work?
Ladder Leagues are competitive and fun! You’ll be matched with players of similar skill levels, and your ranking on the ladder is based on a points system for games won and lost. Players move up or down the ladder each week based on their performance.
Here’s how it works:
- Court Assignments: Each week, you’ll be assigned to a court with 4 or 5 players based on your Global Pickleball Network (GPN) rating. Your progress on the ladder will then depend on your points won or lost each week.
- Default Players: If you’ve registered and paid for the league, you’re considered a “default player.” This means you’re expected to play each week and will be booked to play if you confirm your spot on the network event page. If you can’t make a session, you must remove yourself from the event.
Game Play:
- Games: Each player will play four games with different partners. You'll sit out one game if five players are assigned to your court. If only four players are assigned, you’ll play an extra game determined in advance by the league convenor.
- Scorekeeping: Players are responsible for recording and entering their scores online within 12 hours of match completion. Make sure to enter the correct score, as points are awarded for both games won and lost, including points won.
- Calling the Score: Players must call out the score before each serve.
- Game Format: Games are played to 11 points, with a hard stop at 11.
Guidelines for Play:
- Schedule: A schedule of playing partners will be provided to all players and posted on the league network page.
- Event Confirmation: If you can’t play, withdraw from the event by logging into the network, finding the specific event, and removing your name. A confirmation email is sent 24 hours before the event starts. You must use the event link to confirm or withdraw by 3 PM the day before. If you do not confirm, you will not be booked to play. Be sure to check the event page to see that you have confirmed.
Important Notes:
- There are no make-up games or refunds for missed games.
