Campers with Disabilities

Before you register, please contact us to discuss your child’s needs and your support requests at inclusion@richmondhill.ca or 905-780-2047.

Campers with disabilities

Richmond Hill provides positive integrated camp experiences for children with disabilities. Please carefully consider the needs of your child when making your camp choice as an integrated camp setting may not be appropriate for all children with disabilities.

If your child requires extra support, arrangements for assistance can be made with the Inclusion Services team. A limited number of Inclusion Counsellors are on staff to provide 1:1 support in the summer camp programs. For more information, please RichmondHill.ca/Inclusion

Please be advised that our Inclusion Counsellors receive training in working with individuals with disabilities but do not have professional qualifications in this field.

Wait Lists and Camp Cancellations

Wait lists work! If the camp you want is full, be sure to add your name to the wait list. As plans change, registered participants may change, and spots can open up. If a space becomes available, our program staff will contact the next person on the wait list.

Camp Cancellation

If we cancel a camp you have registered for, we will contact you to help you choose a different camp. If we cannot find another camp that meets your needs, we will issue you a full refund within four weeks of the cancellation. See below for Withdrawal, Transfer and Refund Policies.

How to Register

Register online

Register for camp using the online registration system.

Still want to register in person?

Complete a registration form and drop it off in-person at one of our community centres. Please call 905-771-8870 if you require further assistance.

Withdrawal and Transfer Policies

Program Withdrawal

Can't participate in a registered program anymore? Transfers and Withdrawals can be completed online at RichmondHill.ca/ActiveRH or through written form.

  1. Visit RichmondHill.ca/ActiveRH and Log in with your email address and password.
  2. View Account History and use the Transfer or Withdraw buttons to manage your current enrollments.
  3. If you are eligible for a refund, select refund to credit card. Or, select refund to account for future enrollments. Note: Refunds to account are final.

Or fill out the Withdrawal Request Form and email the completed form to our Recreation Department.

If applicable, please allow 2 to 4 weeks for refund processing. Community Code of Conduct

A Safe, Welcoming Space for Everyone
Richmond Hill’s recreation programs and facilities are for the whole community to enjoy. We’re committed to creating spaces where everyone feels safe, respected and included – whether you’re participating in a program, cheering from the sidelines, visiting a facility or volunteering.

What We Ask of all Visitors
We ask everyone to treat others with kindness, fairness and respect. Help us keep our spaces clean, supportive and enjoyable for all ages and abilities.

What’s Not Allowed
For everyone’s safety and comfort, behaviours such as harassment, bullying, violence, discrimination, vandalism, illegal activity or misuse of personal devices (especially in private areas like change rooms) are not permitted. Some activities – like bringing non‑service animals into facilities or using scooters or bikes indoors – aren’t allowed for safety reasons.

If Something Happens
If you see or experience behaviour that doesn’t follow the Code of Conduct, please speak to on‑site staff. They’re here to help and will take appropriate action.

What Happens Next
Depending on the situation, actions may range from a warning to temporary or longer‑term restrictions from City facilities. Serious incidents may also involve the police.

Working Together
Our recreation spaces belong to everyone. When we look out for one another and act with respect, we help build a positive environment for our whole community.

Our Values
We all share responsibility for making Richmond Hill’s recreation spaces positive and inclusive. Whether you’re a participant, spectator, volunteer or staff member, we encourage everyone to:

  • Treat others with respect and courtesy
  • Help keep our facilities safe and clean
  • Use positive, supportive language
  • Follow posted rules and staff instructions

What’s Not Allowed
The following actions, among others, are not allowed in any City program or facility:

  • Violence, threats or intimidation
  • Abusive, discriminatory or disrespectful language or gestures
  • Bullying, harassment or unwanted contact
  • Vandalism, theft or property damage to City or personal property
  • Possession or use of drugs, alcohol or weapons
  • Taking photos or recordings in private areas (e.g, change rooms, washrooms)
  • Taking photos of participants without permission
  • Posting or sharing offensive, discriminatory or threatening material online
  • Misuse of phones or devices in private areas

If any of these actions occur, staff will respond immediately to keep our spaces safe for everyone.

What Happens if Rules Aren’t Followed
Depending on the situation, you could receive:

  • A verbal warning or written notice
  • A short‑term suspension (up to 7 days)
  • A facility ban (up to 30 days, or longer for serious cases)
  • Being help responsible for the cost of any damages
  • Police involvement for violent or illegal acts

What to Do If You See a Problem
If you see or experience inappropriate behaviour:

  • Tell a City staff member right away
  • Staff will complete an incident report and take appropriate action
  • Serious or repeated issues may result in a ban from City facilities
  • Any incident involving weapons or threats will be reported to York Regional Police

How to Request a Review
If you’ve been banned or suspended and have new information to share:

  • You may request a review by the Director of Recreation & Culture
  • If the issue is still unresolved, you may appeal in writing to the Commissioner of Community Services
  • Bans will remain in effect until a final decision is made

We All Play a Part
By working together, we can make every community centre, arena, pool and program a safe and welcoming place for all.

Respect Lives Here.
