Since 1998, the award winning Community Stewardship Programs has worked with partner agencies and community volunteers to improve our local environment by planting trees, shrubs and wildflowers; cleaning up streams and removing invasive plants from our parks and natural areas.
Help Richmond Hill stay green and work with others in our community to care for our natural spaces. You will improve our natural areas, raise awareness, provide hands-on help and inspire others to do the same.
Check out the fact sheet below to see what we accomplished together last year and the video for a snapshot of our achievements since this program began!
We are always looking for people of all ages to help us. To become a volunteer fill out a Volunteer Registration Form online and attend one of our Volunteer Orientation Sessions, listed in our Community Recreation Guide.
High school students can collect required volunteer hours by participating in any of our green events.
Take a self-guided tree tour of Lake Wilcox Park located on the eastern shorelines of Lake Wilcox. The tour highlights 20 native tree species of Ontario and provides an opportunity to learn the unique characteristics of trees and why they are so important. Tour is approximately 45 minutes in length.
If you don't have the time to come out to a planting event, you can still help us to grow and protect our natural spaces by using our Plant Kits and maintaining trees on your property.
