Picnic Shelter Permits

Richmond Hill has a number of areas that are great for holding your next picnic. Rental fees are affordable and sites are available seven days a week, unless otherwise noted.

Picnic shelter permits are available between May 1 and October 1.

Booking a picnic shelter

Apply for a Picnic Permit to reserve a picnic shelter.

Booking Priorities

Picnic shelter bookings are confirmed on a first-come, first served basis. We accept reservations starting January 1 of the booking year.

Our staff review permit requests and decide if an event is suitable for the requested location. If not, our staff may recommend another location or the request can be rejected.

We also use the following priority booking order:

1. Bookings for Richmond Hill-operated programs and events
2. Bookings for Richmond Hill residents and local community groups
3. Bookings for Richmond Hill schools
4. Bookings for non-residents or commercial purposes

Locations

* Picnic shelters at Richmond Green are not available for booking on statutory holidays.

** No charcoal barbecues allowed. Barbecues fueled by 1lb of propane may be used. Larger fuel cylinders cannot be used without a permit. No barbecues on tables.

*** To minimize single-use plastics in City spaces, permit holders and facility guests are encouraged to replace single-use items with reusable alternatives whenever possible. 

Rental Fees

Rental fees include rental of the picnic shelter area for your event between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
