Richmond Hill Heritage Collection
The Richmond Hill Heritage Collection is in trust for the education and enjoyment of the public. The collection consists of more than 10,000 artifacts, including items from the following donors:
- The Richmond Hill Historical Society
- The Phyllis Rawlinson Estate
- The Langstaff Family
These artifacts represent our community from the early-19th century to the present day and include:
- Agricultural artifacts
- Home furnishings
- Tools
- Textiles
- Recreational artifacts

Archaeology |
Richmond Hill is proud to have a great prehistoric and historic archaeology collection. In 1988, our Archaeological Master Plan was introduced. Since then, numerous archaeological sites have been identified, researched and excavated throughout Richmond Hill. These sites range from a pre-contact First Nations site to a Euro-Canadian farmstead. Some of the most interesting sites include:

Sports Hall of Fame Collection |
The Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1991. The mandate of the Sports Hall of Fame is to celebrate and honour the athletes, teams, and builders whose achievements in sport have made a lasting impact on the community. Artifacts in the Sports Hall of Fame collection have been donated by local sports enthusiasts, athletes and sports organizations. Some items are included in the exhibits at the Elgin Barrow Arena. Public Art |
Richmond Hill has a Public Art Collection, comprised of many art pieces displayed in public spaces.
The City of Richmond Hill is fortunate to have a thriving arts community and a strong history of excellence in the arts and culture sector. The Public Art Policy capitalizes on these unique characteristics and establishes a long-term vision for public art in Richmond Hill. |
