The Climate Champions program supports residents who are ready to take action on climate change. Using our Conversation Toolkit, participants will motivate others to get involved in local climate actions that align with the City’s Community Energy & Emissions Plan.
Are you concerned about climate change and its impacts in Richmond Hill?
Are you interested in working with your community on meaningful climate action?
YOU can be a Climate Champion!
The City of Richmond Hill’s Climate Champions program provides materials and guidance for:
- learning about local climate change issues
- talking to others about the issues
- finding solutions and taking action
We are ready to support you in becoming a community leader, inspiring others to work together toward our shared climate goals. Check out our Climate Champions StoryMap for a deeper look at the Conversation Toolkit and our growing list of Climate Champions and their projects.
How does it work? |
- Email greeningthehill@richmondhill.ca to signal your interest and connect you with City staff.
- Participate in a one-hour Orientation Session. Learn (more) about local climate issues and plans, and your role as a Climate Champion.
- Explore the Conversation Toolkit. This made-in-Richmond Hill resource provides guidance on key issues, conversations, and pathways to action. The City will provide printed copies as needed.
- Talk to others. Start climate conversations with family, friends, classmates, neighbours or colleagues.
- Brainstorm ideas for taking action. City staff can help determine which ideas are most feasible and best support municipal climate goals. Staff can also help connect you with other community members and their climate initiatives.
- Take action! Put your ideas in motion.
- Share your story. Tell us about your experience - who you talked to, what you discussed, how you took action. We will add your information to our Climate Champions StoryMap so your efforts can inspire others!
