Sport Champion Athlete, Official or Team Nomination Criteria

• Placed first in a provincial championship; or
• Placed first in a national or international championship; or
• Placed first in the highest level of competition that their sport allows, according to their sport governing body.

The Athlete, Official or Team must

• Be a resident(s) of Richmond Hill, or
• Represent Richmond Hill when competing in their sport

The Official, from January 1 to December 31, 2024, must have been selected to officiate at a provincial, national or international championship competition.

The Athlete, Official or Team can only win a Sport Champion Award once every three years.

Criteria for Champion Coach Nomination

• Have a minimum of ten years coaching experience
• Be a resident of Richmond Hill, or be affiliated with a Richmond Hill sport organization or train athletes and / or teams that represent Richmond Hill in their sport
• Show commitment to coaching education in Richmond Hill or at the provincial or national level by being a course instructor, developing materials, being on a coaching committee or other professional development activities.

Nomination Process

1. Nomination Form
2. A brief biography of the athlete, official or team’s sport history and background information on the specific competition won in 2024. Champion Coach nominations should include a brief biography of the coaches sport history and background information on their accomplishments as a coach. (no longer than 250 words).
3. For team nomination, attach a document containing the team roster including name, address, phone and emails of all the team members.
4. Two letters of reference for each nomination
5. High resolution digital headshot of the nominee or team photo

Please attach copies of articles, photographs, awards, testimonials, etc., concerning the nominee that will support their accomplishments and contributions.

• Nominees cannot self-nominate.
• Nomination forms must be complete. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. 

Submit your completed nomination via the Sports Champion Athlete, Official or Team nomination form, or the Champion Coach nomination form.
