Please note, flags at all Richmond Hill facilities are flying at half-mast due to the recent tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community.
Increased Traffic Expected Near Richmond Green on February 5

A community flag-raising will take place tomorrow (Thursday, February 5, 2026) at 6 p.m. at Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park (1300 Elgin Mills Road East). Higher‑than‑usual attendance is expected.
Residents, visitors and businesses may experience traffic delays, temporary road closures and increased congestion in the area during the event.

Please be advised that due to the extreme weather, Friday’s garbage and recycling collection will be delayed in some neighbourhoods until Saturday. If your waste was not collected today (January 16), please place it back at the curb before 7 a.m. and it will be collected tomorrow, Saturday, January 17

The City of Richmond Hill has been informed that two demonstrations are expected to take place on Saturday January 17, 2026 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
The first demonstration will take place at the 301 High Tech Road Plaza parking lot, travel south along Bayview to the 401 and then back north along Yonge Street to the plaza at 8783 Yonge Street just north of Highway 7. Please be advised that due to the extreme weather, Thursday’s garbage, recycling and organics collection will be delayed in some neighbourhoods until Friday. If your waste was not collected today (January 15), please place it back at the curb before 7 a.m. and it will be collected tomorrow, Friday, January 16.
Please also note that the remaining Christmas tree collection days for the week of January 13 will be delayed until next Thursday, January 22 and Friday, January 23.
