Be Saved by the Beep this Month
Take part in ‘Test Your Smoke Alarm Day’ on September 28
RICHMOND HILL – In response to an increase in fire fatalities, Thursday, September 28 is Ontario’s first ‘Test Your Smoke Alarm Day.’ Last year, there were 133 fire fatalities in the province – the most in 20 years. Testing your smoke alarm could help save your life and the lives of loved ones.
As part of the day, Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services encourage the entire community to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety and home fire escape planning.
How can you participate?
It’s simple – take a minute and test YOUR smoke alarms!
You can also help spread the word. Snap a photo of you or family members testing your smoke alarms and post it to social media using the hashtag #SavedByTheBeep. FREE social media images and videos (available in 17 different languages) are available at savedbythebeep.ca. Tag your friends and family to spread the message… and remember to tag @RHFES for a chance to win a prize pack!
Remember, people often believe a fire can’t happen to them until it’s too late. Practice fire safety regularly and protect what matters most!
