Nominations and Submissions Now Open for City’s Arts Awards and Visual Art Gallery

RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill is committed to supporting a vibrant arts and culture sector throughout our community. After a brief break due to the pandemic, the City’s Arts Awards and Visual Art Gallery are back!

2023 Arts Awards

The City’s Arts Awards recognizes artistic talent and community contribution to the arts sector in Richmond Hill. Winners will receive a cash prize and be announced at the Cultural Summit in April 2023. What you need to know:

• Four award categories: Mid-Career or Established Artist, Emerging Artist, Youth Artist and Culture Builder
• Artists in any discipline may be nominated, including performing (theatre, dance, music), visual, literary, media, textile, craft, and community arts 
• Nomination deadline is December 16, 2022

Visual Art Gallery

Richmond Hill’s Visual Art Gallery showcases the works of artists, collectives, arts organizations and schools on a monthly basis in the main lobby of the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. What you need to know:

• Applications are open to artists of all levels, individually or as a collective
• Mediums include, but are not limited to, paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolour, drawings, printmaking, photography and mixed media
• Applications are reviewed and evaluated by a selection committee, comprised of Richmond Hill staff and citizen representatives
• Deadline for submissions is December 16, 2022
