City of Richmond Hill Rescinding Vaccination Policy
In alignment with recent announcements made by other public sector organizations including York Region, Richmond Hill will rescind its COVID-19 Vaccination Policy effective Wednesday, March 1, 2023. As of that date, mandatory vaccination will no longer be required for staff, volunteers and contractors.
Since the introduction of the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy in August 2021, the City has continued to monitor the state of the pandemic, including the current impact of COVID-19 on the health care system. When first introduced, the Policy was informed by science and reflected public health guidance to help protect staff. It also served to protect the public and to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
We remain committed to providing a safe environment for staff, residents, contractors and others who visit our facilities.
