Richmond Hill is Ready for Winter with a New Snow Removal Equipment
The Town’s commitment to keeping our streets safe continued when Council approved an amendment to the road winter maintenance contract. The amendment, which adds two additional snow removal trucks to the existing agreement with Rafat General Contractor Inc., means that the Town will have the use of 14 single-axle trucks for the next seven years. At the Council meeting, staff spoke to the many advantages of single axle trucks at the meeting, which include lower operational costs, higher levels of efficiency and better driving capabilities; all of which will lead towards improved snow removal in Richmond Hill. The 10-truck-$8,032,500 contract with Rafat General Contractor Inc. makes up the majority of the $10,269,000 snow removal truck budget, with the remaining $2,236,500 going to Fermar Paving Ltd. to provide four trucks. Two New Fire Pumper Trucks are Coming to Richmond Hill
The Town purchased two new Fire Pumper Trucks during the summer recess. The new trucks are replacing fire trucks that are at the end of their life cycle; the $1,225,300 purchase ensures that Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services continues to be properly equipped to keep our residents safe.
