Richmond Hill Enters Into Employment Partnership Agreement with York Region
Council approved an employment survey partnership agreement with the Region of York. Employment surveys are used to gather information about the business community. The information collected will provide a clearer understanding of the composition of the business community in Richmond Hill and its impact on existing and future infrastructure programs. The survey results will be used for planning and economic development purposes; to influence local and regional programs and services; and will be the source of data for an online business directory. The partnership agreement formalizes an existing partnership (2002) between Richmond Hill and York Region. Youth Week Activities in Richmond Hill
Council proclaimed May 1 to 7 as Youth Week in and for Richmond Hill. Youth Week is celebrated in communities across the country, recognizing youth for their active participation in their communities. Richmond Hill’s Youth Action Committee and Recreation & Culture Division are planning a variety of activities for the week, including a Youth ArtFest, field trips to local attractions and a video dance, among other activities. These activities are designed to engage Richmond Hill’s youth, help with their growth and development and teach them life skills. Richmond Hill is committed to providing its youth with a variety of programs and activities to keep them active and entertained year-round. Community Funding Partnership
Council once again approved a partnership with York Region to provide grant funding to pay registration fees for at-risk youth to participate in recreation and culture activities. Access to these services is limited for many residents due to economic pressures; this partnership offers a discreet process for families to participate in Richmond Hill programs and activities at no cost. The community funding program is subsidized fully through a federal grant that York Region receives annually and is essential for providing at-risk youth in the community with access to recreation. In 2013, more than 600 children/youth participated in community programs as a result of this 14-year partnership between Richmond Hill and York Region.
