Fine China Exhibit Comes to Richmond Hill

Beyond Blue and White exhibit on display at the Heritage Centre 

RICHMOND HILL – A new travelling exhibit, created by the King Heritage and Cultural Centre, is on display at Richmond Hill’s Heritage Centre through April 20, 2024. Beyond Blue & White: Wedgwood Designed for Canada explores the growth of the popular British ceramic and its expansion into the North American market. 

In late 2016, the Estate of the late Keith Alwyn McLeod (1935-2014) donated a collection of over 400 Canadian-themed pieces of a unique English Porcelain called Wedgwood to the KHCC. He acquired the ceramics over his lifetime, amassing the most complete collection of Canadian-themed Wedgwood in existence. The exhibit features more than 50 of these unique ceramic pieces, showcasing landscapes, heraldry, souvenirs, history and commemorative tributes. 

Josiah Wedgewood and Sons, commonly known as Wedgewood, is a fine china, porcelain and luxury accessories company that was founded in 1759. More than 260 years later, the company continues to produce dinnerware, teaware, home décor and gifts, including some using materials invented by founder Josiah Wedgewood I.  

Located in downtown Richmond Hill (19 Church Street), the Heritage Centre’s Gallery is open Tuesdays 1-4 p.m., Thursdays 4-8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
