GTAH Mayors and Chairs Seek Federal Commitment to Infrastructure Funding
Back to SearchRichmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow along with other Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton (GTAH) Mayors and Regional Chairs participated in the Premier’s Summit on Collaboration and Coordination at Queen’s Park where a number of important commonly shared issues were discussed. A priority for the group was the need for the Federal Party Leaders to make a strong commitment to infrastructure funding. In a demonstration of support, all signed a joint letter.
About the issue, Mayor Barrow said, “Having safe and well maintained-roads, sewers, bridges, public transit and other infrastructure is important to our community. We are asking the Federal Government Parties to commit to long term funding programs. We have benefitted greatly in the past from grants and other funding programs like the Gas Tax initiative. It is our hope that long-term funding support from all our government partners will continue. Without it, the current infrastructure deficit will continue to grow.”
