Letter From Mayor West To Residents
Dear Richmond Hill Residents, Businesses and Visitors,
Two weeks ago, after many months of negotiating, CUPE 905, the union representing more than 200 Richmond Hill employees, initiated a strike. This strike has now ended with the City and union members ratifying a renewal collective agreement.
I want to thank the Richmond Hill community for the patience that you demonstrated during the labour disruption. I know that some of you were inconvenienced, in particular our vast and vibrant hockey and skating communities. I am very pleased that the key services affected by the strike will resume tomorrow and that our rinks will be open.
We appreciated hearing from our residents as we worked hard to come to this resolution. I am looking forward to having all our employees back to work so that our residents can enjoy the full range of vibrant services and amenities that make our city great.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Mayor David West
City of Richmond Hill
