National Day of Mourning
Richmond Hill Council has proclaimed Friday April 28th a “Day of Mourning” for workers killed and injured on the job. In recognition of this proclamation, all flags at Richmond Hill facilities will be lowered to half-mast.
In December 1990, the Federal government passed the Worker’s Day of Mourning Act designating April 28th as the official day observed each year to recognize workers injured, killed or disabled on the job or who suffer from occupational illnesses. The Day of Mourning, which originated in Canada, is now commemorated in more than 70 countries worldwide. For more information please visit www.wsibdayofmourning.ca
