Notice of Proposed Update to the Accessible Parking Standards

This is to inform you that a new Accessible Parking Regulation is proposed by the City pursuant to the Municipal Act s.11 which will be considered at the Council Public Meeting scheduled on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held both in person in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Offices, 225 East Beaver Creek Road and using electronic video conference technology.  The meeting can also be accessed through the City’s website at Richmondhill.ca.

Updates are proposed to the accessible parking regulations for persons with disabilities, initiated by the City to adopt the newer standards under the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, S.O. 2005 c.11. The current by-laws governing accessible parking are proposed to be repealed and consolidated within a new by-law that incorporates updated standards pursuant to the Municipal Act s.11. These updates will apply city-wide.

The Staff Report will be available on RichmondHill.ca as of Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the end of the business day. To find it, select the Calendar and click on the relevant meeting for a list of items.

Making a delegation at the Council Public Meeting: There is the option of attending in person or electronically by video conference or by phone. Any person who wishes to speak to Council on this matter must pre-register with the Office of the Clerk by 12 noon the day of the meeting.
