Open the Doors to Richmond Hill's Stories
Explore history, culture and creativity at Doors Open and Studio Tour on May 9
RICHMOND HILL – Step inside the places that shape our community during Richmond Hill’s Doors Open and Studio Tour, taking place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. This free, citywide event invites residents and visitors to explore fascinating spaces and experience the city’s rich heritage and vibrant arts scene.
New this year, explore at your own pace using an interactive Google Map, designed to make planning the day easy. While exploring, visitors can collect stamps at participating sites as part of the Passport to Culture for a chance to win a Richmond Hill cultural prize pack.
What to Know for Doors Open
As part of Doors Open Ontario, Richmond Hill opens the doors to a wide range of historic buildings, cultural sites and community spaces – many not usually open to the public. Explore our new Cultural Centre and take in interactive experiences like an Artist Trading Card workshop for creating mini collages and a hands‑on introduction to traditional decorative weaving known as Chinese Knotting. Make sure to drop by and see our newly installed tea exhibit at the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre.
Along the route, be sure to visit the historic Village of Richmond Hill on Yonge Street. Enjoy guided tours of the former Richmond Hill High School and take a behind-the-scenes look at the City’s archival collection. Try your hand at lawn bowling in the City’s most historically significant park and view the work of local artists in one of the City’s earliest parishes.
